Navigating ABA Therapy: A Step-by-Step Guide

ABA Therapy Approval Process

Thank You for Considering Paradigm Behavioral Therapy for Your Child’s ABA Therapy Needs. Below is an overview of the ABA Therapy approval process to guide you step by step.

1. Initial Consultation

Once we receive your contact information, our Intake Coordinator will call you to discuss your child’s needs and options.

Required documents from Pediatrician or Neurologist:

Prescription for Behavior Evaluation and Treatment
- Must have a clear diagnosis with diagnosis code (see qualifying diagnosis for ABA therapy)
- Must read "Applied Behavior Analysis Evaluation and Treatment"
Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN)
A written document from a board certified physician that outlines why a particular treatment or service is medically necessary for a patient.
Neuro Notes
If available, notes from the child's neurologist will help expedite the approval process.
IEP/Psychological Evaluation or Cognitive Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE)
If your child does not have one already, Paradigm will schedule and facilitate the evaluation.

2. Intake Packet Completion

After the consultation, you’ll receive a New Client Intake Packet.

3. Initial Assessment

Upon insurance approval, we’ll schedule an assessment with your child’s assigned Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
The assessment includes a 1-on-1 session with your child and a guardian questionnaire.

4. Assessment Submission

Following the assessment, the BCBA will prepare a comprehensive report for submission to your insurance provider

5. Start of ABA Therapy

Once approved, we’ll assign your child’s therapy team, which typically includes a BCBA or BCaBA, and an RBT
Your team will contact you to introduce themselves and schedule your child’s first therapy session
